The “Epic Pet Travel Journal” campaign has officially wrapped up!
At Puckipuppy, we believe every ride has a story worth sharing.
At the very last moment, we even drew 2 lucky winners to receive mystery gifts.
Now, let’s take a look at one of their exciting riding stories:

David Shaver:Great memories of the good old days with my brother
I am a married retired teacher and have been very heavy for years. Since retiring, over the last two years I have lost 200 pounds, and gone from a sedentary life to one more active. After my first 50 pounds loss I had to wear suspenders because my shorts would fall off as I walked.
I rewarded myself buying new clothes often, and enjoy doing more chores around the house and setting up my garage to start a woodworking hobby. We also got a 15 foot swim spa in the backyard and joined the local senior center.
In my youth I road bicycles with my brother (Rick), we would be on the road for hours going town to town, later we also rode dirt bikes together. Great memories of the good old days. The most recent reward I gave myself was an e-Trike.
I started watching videos and researching e-Bikes for about 6 months before buying one as I was still 370 pounds or so, I was concerned if a e-bike would handle me, and was considering my ability to safely bike since I am 67 and those bike rides with my Rick were 45 years ago.
I was excited to find that an e-Trike would be a perfect fit, but many were underpowered, front wheel drive and too lightweight for me. I was excited about my plans and shared this with my brother, who got equally excited. He actually beat me to the punch buying one, (for his wife to use). They are smaller people and got an inexpensive Trike which has been good for them, though it is lacking many of the features that my Husky has.
Rick who is an excellent mechanic told me it took him 3 days and a lot of adjustments to get it put together. He said when mine comes wait for him to even open the box, and he will help me build it. He was so amazed to see it mostly assembled, was built in hours.
I enjoyed spending time installing all the extra accessories that came with it. I then added a few more items to complete my custom Trike. I installed a front basket, an extra front and back light, a quality metal phone holder and bottle holder.
I then added a few extras of my own: a blue tooth speaker in the basket, an old fashioned bell, a large cup holder and finished with some red pin stripe trim. Rick and I have had a good time riding together and exploring the bike trails and green belt around our neighborhood lakes.
When Rick is not available I take one of our puppies and stay in our neighborhood, people stop to see my pup but we end up talking about my Husky. My wife has gotten over being nervous, and in a few seconds I can adjusted the seat and she is off. I am hoping we will get her the new Puckipuppy Alaskan soon.
